ROOTSS

Regenerative soil health field trial and guide for farmers

ROOTSS is a joint initiative of Agri Kulti and the Hungarian Soil Science Society, which is implemented in 2025 with the support of the REINFORCING project. Its goal is to promote regenerative farming practices in Hungary, with a particular focus on soil health preservation and restoration. The project considers it particularly important to shape farmers' attitudes, develop farming solutions tailored to local soil conditions, and strengthen knowledge sharing and dialogue between farmers, researchers, and decision-makers.

One of the most important goals of the project is to create an openly accessible collaboration tool, the Soil Health Guide. This will help farmers better understand the effects of different agricultural practices on soil health.

The central location is Tiszaszentimre, where we have installed soil sensors in a regeneratively farmed area in collaboration with a local farmer. The sensors provide real-time data on soil moisture, temperature, and conductivity, among other things. This information enables more precise, targeted farming interventions, resulting in more efficient production and less environmental impact in the long term.
