Soil Hub Hungary
Building partnerships for sustainable soil management in Hungary
In 2024, the network launched a pilot project focused on encouraging policy change and reforming the agricultural support system to better serve soil conservation. We are working closely with farmers, soil scientists, researchers, and policymakers to design a hybrid subsidy model that combines management-based and results-based approaches.
The program aims to promote the adoption of more sustainable soil management practices, such as reducing tillage, increasing agrobiodiversity, and ensuring permanent soil cover, particularly through the use of cover crops. We also produce educational materials and videos to support farmers and advisors in the practical implementation of these practices
Agri Kulti established Soil Hub Hungary (SHH), a national advocacy network that aims to connect organizations, experts, and farmers in the interest of soil protection and soil restoration in Hungary. SHH works to promote dialogue between stakeholders and support decision-makers in developing policies and funding frameworks that treat soil protection as a cornerstone of sustainable agriculture.
